I parked up and where I parked I could see the Pro Class drift cars all lined up for their first practise runs of the day. I got out the car just as they started up and revved away down the hill.
The first car I come across...has to be Phil Morrisons S15 from Driftworks :) This thing looked amazing in the flesh as well as the pictures. It does have a slight whiff of Mint's S15 thats for sure.
Next to Phil Morrison's S15 we have Greg Gush of Protuner UK. Hes is the main man for mapping cars in the EDC...in fact he mapped most of the cars competing that day.
As I walked on down the paddock there was quite a selection of Japanese drift cars as well as a American muscle car making an appearance
I walked and snapped as I usually do at the car events but I stopped and stared at this monster for a little bit:
Some more cars:
Jeek from TrampDrift deserves a mention as he is a known amateur drifter coming in for one round drifting with the big boys. I bought my BMW from this guy. He was driving Ade's Ford Sierra as his on BMW 540 isn't up to competition standards...yet. Looking more and more likely it will be next year though :)
Of course team Japspeed were in attendance with their array of drivers including Shane Lynch from the boy band Boyzone.
Declan Munnelly was driving his Mark2 Ford Escort which did some amazing drifts going full throttle down the hill
I particularly liked this little MX5 with an SR20DET conversion
The qualifying started soon after we got into the main area just past the paddocks. Some serious skills including backward entries into the massive downhill dip followed by a hairpin. Many drifters have stated that this is one of the most demanding circuits for drifting and it didn't disappoint today. There were many crashes throughout the day.
The Pro-Ams kicked things off:
Then the Pros:
Then the knockout runs began...and man were they something to watch...Some insane entries including two backward entries. Everyone driving with everything to play for as 6 drivers could win the title during this last round. This produced one of the best drifting events I have watched this year.
